Perhaps the best ideas are born out of a need!
GunsOnPegs is run by James Horne & Chris Horne. James came up with the idea whilst running a shoot in Cambridgeshire. He found it was always easy to sell the majority of days and fill most of the pegs with his own contacts; however it is often the one or two remaining days or pegs that caused a headache. This can of course be the difference between making a loss or a profit.
So the 'GunsOnPegs' web site has been designed as simple method of solving a problem for shoot organisers and providing access to shoots for guns that are looking for shooting. A shoot owner can use the web site and control the entire process for free. Guns can get access to a wealth of opportunities that previously were only available by word of mouth. Not only that, those last minute opportunities no longer have to be given away!
GunsOnPegs has now become the largest driven shoot finder service in the UK.
James Horne
James is a serial entrepreneur having started up many businesses over the last three decades. He is an experienced marketer having spent time in the oil industry travelling widely, developing various retail concepts. He then moved onto the food industry where he with his wife Alison developed the extremely successful CCL Foods plc and its brands such as PizzaExpress, Simply Delicious and Peppadew.
Having been a keen shooting person for many years, James took over his first shoot near Newmarket. It was through this shoot that he met the founding members of eBay and this led to the idea of a version of eBay for shooting, so GunsOnPegs was born.
Chris Horne
Chris graduated from The University of Nottingham in 2007 with a degree in Business & Economics and has since been working for a fund management company in the West End of London.
Having been brought up in the countryside and always had a passion for country sports, Chris has been shooting from a young age.
Having been involved with the business from the start, Chris’ already complex range of day to day responsibilities grew into a full time job!
Special thanks also needs to be given to Michael Beach for his early advice and guidance, Peter Grove for his maintenance of the website and Geoff Brown for his continued support on design work.
