The Egton Estate, Whitby, North Yorkshire is located approximately 45 miles north of York and 7 miles west of the coastal town of Whitby. The Estate sits on the Northern fringe of the North York Moors National Park. The Yorkshire Esk, an exciting and prolific migratory salmon and sea trout river runs through the Estate.
With effect from mid June 2014, the Estate's Sporting Enterprises are now run by Oliver, the eldest son of Simon. Olly is keen to develop the shoot, improve it further and continue to run all sporting enterprises in hand.
The Estate can offer single or double days of quality driven pheasant shooting with 15 named drives of varying difficulty. Pheasant shooting ranges from 150 – 400+ bird days and we can offer Grouse shooting for 80 brace days. Double gun shooting is available on request. The wooded valleys offer guns an exciting opportunity to get amongst some challenging and predominantly melanistic pheasants, often stood on stream and river banks. Most drives are steep mixed woodland located on the side of the Esk & Grange Valleys. Others drives are cover crops mainly used in the earlier part of the season.
York Mainline train station (less than two hours from London Kings Cross) is only an hour's taxi ride away. Pick up to and from York train station can be arranged with advanced warning.
Accomodation must be arranged by guns in advance. Olly would be delighted to provide recommendations in the locality.

I have shot both Grouse and Pheasants during the 2011/12 season and can highly recommend this shoot. The grouse season produced birds in plenty and some wonderful shooting from traditional butts. The pheasants were great fun with some really testing drives which had me beaten on far too many occasions! Simon and Julia's hospitality is both sumptuous and memorable on this picturesque estate. Thanks for the super days this season.
