GunsOnPegs has now become the largest driven shoot finder service in the UK.
James Horne
James is a serial entrepreneur having started up many businesses over the last three decades. He is an experienced marketer having spent time in the oil industry travelling widely, developing various retail concepts. He then moved onto the food industry where he with his wife Alison developed the extremely successful CCL Foods plc and its brands such as PizzaExpress, Simply Delicious and Peppadew.
Having been a keen shooting person for many years, James took over his first shoot near Newmarket. It was through this shoot that he met the founding members of eBay and this led to the idea of a version of eBay for shooting, so GunsOnPegs was born.
Chris Horne
Chris graduated from The University of Nottingham in 2007 with a degree in Business & Economics and went on to work for a fund management company in the West End of London.
Having been brought up in the countryside and always had a passion for country sports; Chris has been shooting from a young age. Having been involved with the business from the start, Chris’ already complex range of day to day responsibilities grew into a full time job quite quickly!
Phil joined GunsOnPegs in the summer of 2010 to head up the sponsorship side of the business. Phil’s background is in Sales & Marketing, with a specialism in the Countryside & High Net Worth sector. Phil was previously Head of Corporate Partnerships at the GWCT (Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust) and also has experience in the larger commercial sector with customer contact strategies.
Favourite Drive- The Thorns, Rossley, Gloucestershire- “High challenging birds and a wonderful view across the Severn Vale towards the Malverns.”
Ali Horne
Ali, James’ wife, has always been involved with GunsOnPegs unsurprisingly! However what was previously a position of encouragement to her husband and son, Ali now runs the hotels side of the business in what has become a very important role. Ali was one half of the previous success story that was the family food business, CCL Foods PLC.
Favourite Drive- Ali has yet to be tempted to take hold of the gun, although she has been to many of the best shoots in the country so definitely understands the sport!
Louise Benson
Louise graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2010 with a degree in Agri-Business Management and has since completed a placement in Uganda, before starting at GunsOnPegs in February. Louise has grown up in the shooting field, beating from an early age and eventually learning to shoot a few years ago.
Favourite Drive- Borough Hill, Giffords Hall, Suffolk- “Standing at the foot of the hill in anticipation of the birds soaring off the hill, and unless you’re quick off the mark they are soon out of range.”
Peter Grove
Peter's role in developing the GunsOnPegs website is crucial. Peter is a very understanding and talented man who has the capability to implement, within minutes, some of the crazy ideas that the team come up with. Now working from his country retreat in France, Peter is our current head of European Development.
Special thanks also needs to be given to Michael Beach for his early advice and guidance, and Hannah Davies & Geoff Brown for their continued support with some fantastic design work.
