Are you booking a shoot? - Consider these questions!

9 November 2011 by , 0 comments
We have put together the list of questions below, to help you to be full prepared when enquiring about a day's shooting.

Many are aimed at those new to shooting, but even those who have shot numerous times may find it to be a useful check list when on the phone to a new shoot.

You do not need to ask all of them and some of them may not even be relevant to you, but they have all been put together using comments from members so hopefully they will act as food for thought when you next enquire to shoot.

Questions:

What time and where do we meet?

Is there local accommodation?

Is lunch provided?

What is the lunch?

Where is the lunch held?

Can we bring guests and can they eat lunch with us? (If so what is the additional cost?)

Do we need to walk far to the pegs?

Do I need to bring a 4x4?

How many cartridges would you recommend as a minimum? (always take more as you don't want to run out on the day!)

Do I need to bring special cartridges? (ie. Fibre/Plastic Wads, or steel shot for duck)

Can I borrow a gun and buy cartridges? (if required)

Can I bring a loader / instructor or can you provide me with one?

What is the dress code?

Can I bring my dog?

If so, can i pick up my own birds or do the pickers up usually pick everything?

Is there a minimum age limit?

Can I wear walking boots or are wellies essential?

How many drives will we shoot during the day?

Do you allow visiting guns to pick some of their own birds at the end of the drive?

Do I get a “dressed” pair of birds after the shoot?

Do you run a shoot sweep?

Does the cost cover everything including drinks?

Do you have a full time game keeper?

How much should I tip the keeper?

What is your overage / underage policy?

Do I need public liability insurance?

Do I need any shoot cancellation insurance? Will you offer me an alternative day?

How can I pay?

What is the deposit?

When is the balance due?
